This is a guide to the risk of rabies from bats handled in the UK. It is suitable for zoological settings, national parks and gardens, wildlife and woodland trusts, schools and educational settings near forests, woodlands and parks and for the public. In spring and autumn, juvenile bats can fall from nests and members of the public can handle or rescue them and often are bitten in this process. This leaflet encourages immediate seeking of health care treatment to reduce risk of rabies that can be caught from the bats.

The z-card is a short summary of the information contained in the full Help is at Hand booklet (ref: 2901502). Help is at Hand provides people affected by suicide with both emotional and practical support. It is designed to be given out by bereavement support organisations and by those who are likely to be first on the scene after a suspected suicide, including police and ambulance staff.
